Kids’ Camp is right around the corner! Camp Cure is a camp aimed at kids who are just finishing 2nd – 5th grade. It is predicated on the idea that “Sin is the disease; Jesus is the cure”! Camp will run the weekend of June 24-27 at Ponderosa Retreat and Conference Center in Larkspur, Colorado.

Have you ever noticed that every time Jesus did something really cool for someone like, cast a demon out of them, heal them, or even take them up a mountain side so they could see Him in His glory, He always told the people or person not to tell anyone about it. I think Jesus understand that we are all a little rebellious, and if He tells us not to do something chances are we are going to do the opposite. So try it today with your child, be like Jesus and instead of getting mad at them for not doing what you would like them to do, ask them to do the opposite and see what happens!
but we get to choose how we respond to those things. And before we respond, I think it’s important to categorize the “bad thing” that happened. Is it just a fact of life – like stubbing your toe? Is it an attack from the enemy – too many examples to give one? Or is it a trial brought on as a result of you following God’s direction in your life – like Daniel being thrown into the den of lions? Each of these can be dealt with differently. The Bible teaches us to “consider it pure joy…whenever you face trials of many kinds.” (James 1:2) This direction deals with the trials that come as a direct result of following God. And, yes, they will come. Just ask Jesus about the trials he faced. And in these times we find joy, not in the trial, but in the fact that we know that God is faithful to deliver us from the trial and His kingdom will be glorified through our suffering. When the devil has put a target on our backs and we find ourselves under attack, find strength in God that you don’t have yourself. And bind the activity of the devil in your life and the lives of your loved ones. Finally, when it’s just one of those fluky “bad days” when nothing seems to go right, go get some ice cream, try not to spill it on yourself, and realize that “this, too, shall pass” and tomorrow will be better!
As a tribute to all of us who have had one of those bad days, take a look at this….
